Pet Tortoise

A little About Us.

Q: What is the aim of Pet Tortoise?
A: To provide first class captive bred hatchlings and advice to caring homes

Q: What makes Pet Tortoise so successful?
A: Its a passion, we love our tortoises, and we aim to pass on our knowledge and experience whether you like it or not!

Q: Why does Pet Tortoise insist, prospective owners read the care sheet ?
A: If we can help your tortoise thrive, then we feel you will come back and hopefully with your own hatchlings!

Q: Is Pet Tortoise only experienced with tortoises?
A: Far from it, We have kept and bred numerous reptiles over many years.

You can find a few extracts from one of our photo albums [here]

Q: Why captive breed tortoises?

A: Firstly conservation, after years and years of Mediterranean tortoises being taken from the wild along with the reduction of their natural habitat many species were added to the protection list (rightly so), this preventing any more from being taken from the remaining wild populations.
Secondly its an interest we greatly enjoy and we feel unless these tortoises are correctly managed and bred in captivity, there won't be any more.

Q: Website ?
A: The internet was to be our ideal medium to pass on our experiences in keeping these fascinating reptiles as its 'dynamic' / 'live', Which is why you won't find any downloadable care and information. Once a document becomes static its days are numbered to be out of date, We have never heard of or written a definitive document on captive husbandry our techniques have evolved over the years with new ideas and approaches from many enthusiasts, in this way our information will remain dynamic and up to date.

We have been past and present members of numerous societies and organisations regarding the captive maintenance of reptiles some of which are ... British Herpetological Society, Milton Keynes Herpetological Society, Chameleon Information Network, Portsmouth Reptile & Amphibian Society, Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust (at Jersey Zoo) ...

We also relish any chance to study and photograph animals in their natural habitat,
